RIGHT TO EDUCATION TASK FORCES

State and Local Task Forces include parents and professionals who can offer assistance to families with questions about services for students with special needs. The Task Forces exist to help families and school districts work together to ensure the integrity and delivery of special education services to eligible students.

A statewide, telephone helpline provides parents, educators and professionals with information on early intervention, special education, child development and family/social concerns.

A service of the PDE; help for families and advocates of children with special needs about school-related concerns, special education regulations, and the complaint system.

      From the article: "Cory Singer, of South Plainfield, won his episode on Sunday night and, with the win, released the single, ‘I Can Do Anything,’ via iTunes with a YouTube video to accompany it. The 18-year-old high school senior, who has Asperger's and Tourette's syndromes, proved an inspiration during his episode. He refused to allow his disabilities to keep him from pursuing his musical dreams."

      Jacob Barnett is a 14-year-old mathematician and prodigy diagnosed with autism at the age of two. At a young age, Jacob began sneaking into the back of college lectures at IUPUI. He is currently working toward a Master's degree in quantum physics. Jacob is also CEO and founder of Wheel LLC, a business he started in his mom's garage, and is in the process of writing a book to help end "math phobia" in his generation.
